In recent years, the government began implementing a fairly old law that’s rarely used, to tax real estate which is adjacent to public urban development projects. And in 2020, a decision was issued to collect in exchange for improvement on all the properties adjacent to the new urban development projects in Cairo. Does this mean that the owners of the properties adjacent to the Heliopolis bridges, Nasr City, and street expansion projects, may pay a tax soon in exchange for the improvement ?!
The law of expropriation for the public benefit is one of the most important laws that affect urbanization and daily social life in Cairo. The Real Estate Registration Law stipulates that no service provider transfers facilities to the names of new real estate owners or allows facilities to be delivered/supplied to newly built real estate, which was immediately sold unless proof of real estate registration is submitted.
