Reconciliation Law Pamphlets P2: How do I apply for reconiciliation?

  • Published on 16 September 2024

The second part of the new reconciliation law series, titled ‘How do I apply for reconiciliation?’ provides a simple explanation through comics of the steps to apply for reconciliation for building violations (formalizing illegal buildings) according to the new reconciliation law 187/2023 and its executive regulations. The booklet is divided into four stages: The first stage explains the documents required to submit an application, then the second stage explains the steps the application goes through and the costs of the old one. The third stage explains what to do if you are asked to fulfil certain data and when to do so. The fourth and final stage explains how to pay the rest of the reconciliation fee if the application is approved, or what to do if the application is rejected.

This brochure is published as part of the Built Environment Observatory’s social role in providing general knowledge on a law that affects millions of families, especially poor and low-income families. The booklet is based on in-depth legal research of the reconciliation law and its complementary legislation (see the Legal Archive), as well as interviews with a number of lawyers to verify the information based on their practical experience in submitting a number of reconciliation applications.
