Reconciliation Law Pamphlets P1: How do I know my home is informal?

  • Published on 18 September 2024

In the first explanation pamphlet of the new reconciliation law ‘How do I know my home is informal?’, you can find a simple explanation in comic style illustration of the types of building violations according to the new reconciliation law 187/2023 and its bylaws. The booklet is divided into five sections explaining how to know that a home is informally built, the exceptional offences that the law allows reconciliation for, as well as the offences that the law does not allow reconciliation for. The last two sections explain the advantages of applying for reconciliation, and the disadvantages of applying for reconciliation.

This brochure is published as part of the Built Environment Observatory’s social role in providing general knowledge on a law that affects millions of families, especially poor and low-income families. The booklet is based on in-depth legal research of the reconciliation law and its complementary legislation (see the Legal Archive), as well as interviews with a number of lawyers to verify the information based on their practical experience in submitting a number of reconciliation applications.
